Using the laser with transfer film, I made this. First successful etching. I masked a piece of scrap t6 aluminum I had leftover from machining something with vinyl transfer masking tape. it is not vinyl, rather it is used to transfer cut vinyl stickers. I had it leftover from when I had a plotter years ago. So I applied it, then used the co2 laser to cut out letters. I weeded out the letters and used a solution of salt and vinegar with a bit of cotton cloth to conduct the electricity. Power supply is two atx wired in series at 24v. I am very impressed with the results. I will 3D print a device now that will let me etch larger areas at once and hopefully get more of a even finish. Attachments:
